I loved the demonstrations. The quiz at the end was a great way to test how much I absorbed from the videos. I have already put together a first aid kit!

One of my biggest concerns with my infant has always been what happens if we are in an emergency situation. So I signed up as soon as I got your discount. My confidence level with handling emergency situations has increased significantly after this course. Simple to understand and straight to the point, also the lesson notes are a plus. Well done for the course.

I found this course incredibly helpful. I did the entire course in one sitting. I am pregnant with my first and the baby is due any time now. I feel like I now have a foundation for baby safety basics. Also, the course includes PDFs of each safety chapter, which summarize the key takeaway points. I printed all of them and will place them in a binder next to my baby’s first aid box. This is just how my brain works and I feel better knowing that I have access to that information right next to my emergency supplies. Additionally, you can rewatch any parts of the course for up to one year. I will definitely have my husband watch this all-in-one baby safety course. I will benefit from watching it again too. Thank you, BabyCenter, for creating this course and explaining the information in a way that I can actually understand. I recommend that anyone taking care of newborns, or any children for that matter, take this course. Kudos! NOTE: This reviewer received free course access in exchange for their honest review.

I thought this course was comprehensive and well put together. I liked the fact that it not only taught CPR and first aid, but it also touched on how to deal with common medical problems. This includes things such as fevers and burns. I strongly recommend to any new parent or anyone who will be caring for children. It will help ease your mind because you will know what to do if and when an emergency arises.

I am currently pregnant with our first, so I am trying to go through as many courses as possible to prepare me for all situations. This one went through everything very nicely, and I like how they are prerecorded so if I missed anything I could pause and go back. They also included their own notes which was helpful, but I usually just take my own.

Meet your hosts

C. Anthoney Lim, M.D., M.S.

Director of pediatric emergency medicine

Dr. Lim isn’t just a top pediatric ER doctor (actually, the top pediatric ER doctor for the Mount Sinai Health System). He’s also a dad with a young son. He went into medicine to help parents, as well as little ones, get the care they need when worst-case scenarios happen. He’s so diligent about safety, in fact, that he continued cutting his son’s grapes well into the school-age years.

Anna Jimenez Lyle

BabyCenter Parent Contributor

Anna is a journalist with more than 10 years of experience. But even more importantly, she's a mom to a son who has experienced more than his fair share of bumps, bruises, and fevers. As the parent host of this course, she'll practice CPR and Heimlich techniques alongside you and ask the questions you'd ask.

Money-back guarantee

We made BabyCenter Courses because we believe that every parent should have access to advice from top pediatric experts. We’re positive that you’ll love our courses – and we will happily give your money back if for some reason you’re not satisfied within 30 days of your purchase. For more details, click here.

Frequently asked questions

  • What’s included when I buy the course?

So much! You’ll get 13 bite-sized videos (totaling about an hour and 15 minutes) on all of the infant and child safety topics that BabyCenter parents ask about the most: CPR, fevers, choking hazards, when to call the pediatrician, how to administer infants’ medication, babyproofing, water safety, and so much more. Each video also comes with a PDF download of lesson notes (so you don’t have to take them yourself!). And there are even optional quizzes to test how well you’ve retained the information, as well as bonus downloads, like a handy dosage chart of how much medicine to give your baby, based on their weight.

There’s also a private community group within the BabyCenter Community that’s exclusively for parents and caregivers who are taking this course.

Oh, and you’ll get a certificate of completion when you finish the class. (Please note that this is not the same as formal CPR certification – more on this below.)

  • When’s the best time to take this course?

Expecting parents tell us that they like taking CPR in the second or third trimester, before baby arrives and life gets busier.

That said, it’s never too late to take this course. Accidents can happen at any age, and our course covers CPR and choking rescue maneuvers for babies under 12 months, as well as for children 1 and older. Plus, there’s a lot of great safety info that will help you well into the toddler years and beyond – on topics including fevers, bumps and bruises, and so much more.

  • I’m not a parent – can I still take this?

Absolutely! Caregivers and babysitters of all types will also benefit from knowing this lifesaving information.

  • What makes this different from other baby safety courses?

There are a few things: First and foremost, this class is taught by C. Anthoney Lim, M.D., M.S., a dad himself and a top pediatric ER doctor who treats emergencies day in and day out. Because of his unique experiences in the field, he's able to offer the most helpful advice possible on infant and child safety. We've paired him with Anna Jimenez Lyle, a mom who learns alongside you in the course and asks the questions we know come up most often for parents and caregivers.

This course also covers a ton of different topics that go far beyond basic CPR and choking rescue maneuvers (although we cover those, too!). We also get into common illnesses and injuries, when to call the doctor or head to the ER, and more.

Finally, you might be debating whether to take this course or an in-person CPR class. While in-person options certainly have their own benefits, the great thing about this course is that it can be referenced any time throughout your 12 months of access. So you can revisit it when your baby gets a fever, or when your child is starting solid foods and you want to brush up on choking rescue maneuvers. (For this reason, it can also be a nice refresher if you’ve already taken an in-person CPR course.)

  • Does this course come with CPR certification?

While this class does offer a certificate of completion (which can come in handy if you're a babysitter or a nanny), it does not meet OSHA requirements for workplace certification.

  • What if I have questions not addressed in the course?

The course is quite comprehensive, but if you have a question that isn’t answered, we encourage you to take advantage of our private community group for parents and caregivers enrolled in this course. In addition to utilizing the group for support and seeing what other parents are asking, you can rest assured that BabyCenter editors will be checking back weekly to answer common questions that come up.

  • How long will I have access?

You’ll have access to everything within the course for 12 months. We also encourage you to save or print the 17 PDF downloads included in the class, which ensures that you’ll be able to reference all of the helpful information in them for years to come.

  • Why does this class cost money?

We made BabyCenter Courses because we believe that every parent should have access to the best advice possible, from the best pediatric experts possible. Course fees allow us to partner with top healthcare professionals, some of whom typically have months-long waitlists.

We work with these experts to create and medically review all of the information in the course, as well as to package it in a format that’s easy to digest, complete with short videos and PDF downloads that you can re-reference whenever you need them.

Can you find some CPR and safety information for free online? Sure. Will it be as heavily vetted and helpfully compiled as what we have in our course? Doubtful.

  • What if I’m not happy with the course after I purchase it?

We’re positive that you’ll love our courses – and we will happily give your money back if for some reason you’re not satisfied within 30 days of your purchase date.

We encourage you to visit our extended FAQs for more details on this policy, as well as answers to other questions you might have.

All parents deserve access to experts

We feel strongly about making BabyCenter Courses widely accessible. So each month, we give out a limited number of free courses to parents who couldn’t otherwise afford them. All we ask in return is for an honest review. If you’d like to apply for this program, click here.
