Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT) is unlike traditional bus services in that it operates along more flexible routes in a more on-demand way.
These services pick people up near their journey origin and drop them at or near their destination, creating routes based on demand and data from their user base.
CoMoUK is working with public authorities via a dedicated quarterly forum and 1:1 meetings as well as its DDRT operator/platform members.
On flexible routes, routing is dynamic to pick-up and drop-off passengers en-route without significantly increasing the overall journey time
They run without a set schedule; pick-ups and drop-offs are timed within guaranteed windows, which reconciles the requirements for flexibility with reliability and certainty.
Can be open to the public or only for specific groups such as employees.
CoMoUK has published its first reports on the digital demand responsive transport (DDRT) sector, one for the UK and another focusing in on Scotland.
They showcase how DDRT can offer low-cost, reliable and flexible transport that cuts carbon emissions.
