Never had to call for support. I had my contract moved to EE and it’s been constant problems. The broadband keep dropping to a crawl and after numerous calls and two engineers I’m no better off. They are going to send another engineer out but I don’t expect and success. When I try to link my new Sim to the App, it tells me that I need to present ID in a store or call first. Having spent 12+ hours on calls to EE (typically on hold for 30mins) since we moved from BT 3 weeks ago with TV and mobile issues, I decided it would be less painful to call into my local store! The staff I spoke to were somewhat confused and bemused... "another of these" ... "No, you have to call 150". More time wasting lies ahead. We are planning to move our Sim contracts over to O2 (roaming included with all contracts) as soon as our first 30 days are up but I want to be able to view my bill. In the meantime I want to make sure my living room is prepared but unsure of how things will be set up when the time comes. Apologies for the roughness of my diagram haha.

Basically the green X is where my phoneline comes in so naturally this is where the ONT box would be fitted in place of the BT socket. However there are no electrical points on this side of the living room to power it. I would not trust a dedicated 5m+ power extension cable to constantly power it.

The 2 blue X points are the nearest spots where the ONT box can be powered, 5m and (ideally) 8-10m away, the EE router would be right next to it with a very short direct link. I'm hoping to find out please if the engineer would feed a much longer optical cable from the new junction box outside to the desired location inside?

Sorry again about the messiness of my question but rather start pulling my hair out now in preparation instead of the day it is finally set up.

Cheers 🙂
Tue, 29 Oct 2024 11:08:21 GMT https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-Landline/Openreach-Modem-location-during-initial-setup/m-p/1466639#M105784 Yeando 2024-10-29T11:08:21Z
