Is Malware responsible for iPhone battery issues post downloading an app?

I accidentally downloaded an app from the app store called Net Guard: Total ad blocker (the “ad blocker was not capitalized so it looks a bit shady especially because I accidentally downloaded it from a pop up ad.) Ever since then my battery has honestly been kinda abysmal even though I am using a month old base Iphone 14. I lost 20% while sleeping overnight and I often lose around 5-10% when using youtube for a short time. I changed a few settings and now I don’t drain that much overnight but I still have that issue of losing a lot of battery during the day. Are there any other settings I have to change or am I losing battery because of some sort of malware from the app?

"Is Malware responsible for iPhone battery issues post downloading an app?: I uninstalled it because I got it from a shady pop up that said it would send all of my images to people (I was being stupid) and the popup had a link directly to this apps page on the app store. Do you have any other idea for my battery drain (new Iphone 14 base model only one month old)"

Make a Genius Bar Appointment:

Set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be diagnosed, and you'll be provided with your options. IMPORTANT: Be certain to bring along a proof of purchase (i.e. sale receipt or original packaging) and the iPhone, itself.

Troubleshooting iPhone Battery Draining:

A. Battery Drain Info:

The iPhone battery will drain, unless it is plugged in and charging. With lots installed, the charge would be slower. As for how fast it would drain the battery, that would depend on the battery health and the volume (sound) you use.

  1. Go Here: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support
  2. Scroll Down: to "Your battery's maximum capacity"

B.. Troubleshooting the Battery:

C. Did this Occur After an Update?:

Give Apple Feedback:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this post
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Contact the Developer:

You'll never get malware on an iPhone. What it may be is a bug within the app. So, contact the developer. You'll find their Contact Us info in the app's page of the App Store.
