Verify these are Genuine AirPods:

1. Get the Serial Number: Find the Serial Number of your AirPods - Apple Support
2. Enter the Serial Number here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
3. View the Results: If all shows up as an AirPod, then you are fine. If not, then these are fake, and you should request a return.
4. If ungenuine: Report it to Amazon, along with a screenshot of what you see. Report Something Suspicious - Amazon Help

Genuine or not, I recommend purchasing expensive products from Apple, where it be AirPods, Mobile Devices, and Computers. So, return this to the seller, and then get it directly from Apple.

So, return these, and purchase them from Apple. No one here says you need to purchase AppleCare. But, if found to be faulty, then you may be electable for a swop out, free of charge.
