Is anyone having difficulties with Sonoma (on a Mac Studio) recognising their APC UPS (specifically APC Easy UPS On-Line)?
The device is neither showing under "Energy Saver" in Settings or System Info under "Power" as a UPS. Under USB it comes up as "Miscellaneous Device" Exar Corporation.
Same here. No drivers needed, and I use the cable that came with the UPS. The UPS shows as a UPS and it worked under Ventura, and now under Sonoma.
Also using an APC Back UPS 1500 with Sonoma with no problems. Shows up in Energy Saver as it always has, no driver needed. The cable is a USB with an RJ11 connector for the UPS side. Nothing magical.
If the physical device is recognized as a device, it seems logical to conclude what is missing is Driver software to access the features of the device.
Lots of software has been recently obsoleted by changes in MacOS, so this would not be surprising.

I did. Less than helpful. After they told me a proprietary cable was shipped with the device (it wasn't proprietary and it didn't work either) i asked for their product compatibility matrices for MacOS and the Studio. Was informed no such docs existed. When i pointed out on their own website they have an FAQ for setup with MacOS i was informed that the product page only states "for use with Window xx" via their PowerChute so by omission (despite their FAQ) my stack wasn't supported.
My bet is you're right and (not the least surprising) that Sonoma (which isn't exactly grabbing me so far) hasn't kept current with the drivers. Kicking myself for going to a xx.0 GA (generally awful ;) ) rel.

FWIW, I use an APC UPS with my Mac Studio running Sonoma, I use the USB cable that came with the unit. It shows up in Energy Saver. Also just previously used the same unit with an iMac.
Been using APC UPS units with all of my desktop Macs, they always were recognized by my Macs, without any drivers or software.
Just to add...the APC UPS type might make a difference and also the Studio is with the M2 Ultra. MacOS is still a Unix with hard ties to a HW specific device tree. IDK how much the Ultra could/would change the kernel / dev tree.
I suppose i could ask for another cable but it was brand new out of the pkg (as is the UPS). Although judging from the sys info, it clearly sees a device but doesn't understand what it is. That's why i agree with you that i think it's a driver. I should probably see when the UPS itself was released as if it's been around a few years it would be odd the driver was not put into Sonoma.
It's my first time in a location w/ a dodgy power grid (micro-hits usually less than a min but enough that it already took out an old Synology), so subsequently my first need for a UPS. Rest of my gear is all MBPs but with WFH now, i figured i'd spring for a little more grunt.
I've had the same issue with my APC Back-UPS 700 Pro, Model BR700G. The unit is probably 10 years old now, (and I've replaced its battery twice as they expired). The original cable was standard USB on one end so I tried to use a USB-C/USB connector hub that offered standard ports. Neither macOS Monterrey nor Sonoma would recognize the UPS when connected that way. I just bought a TrippLite USB-C to RJ45 connector (called a console cable on Amazon) and plugged it directly into my MacBook Pro M1 and to the UPS. Sonoma still doesn't recognize the UPS in the Battery menus.
This thread is over ten months old now with no responses. Whatever your problem is it’s not Sonoma. Try ordering a new cable directly from APC, not a third party. Also try using an Apple branded USB-A to USB-C adapter.
