Two new associate dean positions have been announced for Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (MCGSBS) in Arizona and Florida respectively.

John Fryer, Ph.D., and Evette Radisky, Ph.D., have been named to these new roles.

As members of the MCGSBS leadership team, they will provide oversight and lead priorities identified throughout the school to grow, create a vibrant research learning environment, and enhance faculty development, student success, and curricular capabilities in their specific locations. These roles will ensure continued student and faculty growth and rigor on those campuses.

Dr. Fryer is Associate Dean for Arizona, MCGSBS. He recently relocated with Mayo Clinic from Florida MCGSBS, where he has been the assistant dean since 2015. As he takes on the new role, he will oversee efforts to clearly define, evaluate, transform, and grow research education in Arizona to meet our school’s strategic goals and the challenges students will face in their careers.

Dr. Fryer’s ongoing relationship with Arizona State University and other partners in the Phoenix metro area will serve the interests of education and MCGSBS well in the future.

He has been actively involved in educational efforts, including curriculum and course development, since joining Mayo Clinic in 2011. He is a consultant in the Department of Neuroscience. Among his many leadership roles, Dr. Fryer has held responsibility for visiting students, SURF, and graduate school students. He has served as Assistant Dean in Florida, Associate Program Director for the Neuroscience track, and on the Florida Executive Education Committee.

Joseph Loftus, Ph.D., will continue in the role of Assistant Dean, continuing to coordinate Summer Research students, SURF, and other key initiatives in Arizona.

Dr. Radisky is Associate Dean for Florida. She is currently the Assistant Dean in Florida, and assumed her role in June of 2019 after Dr. Fryer relocated to Arizona. Dr. Radisky will continue to oversee MCGSBS programs and strategic educational activities, including growth on the Florida campus and coordination of new and existing joint educational initiatives with the University of North Florida.

Dr. Radisky is a Consultant in the Department of Cancer Biology at Mayo Clinic Florida, a member of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, a Professor of Cancer Biology - Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, and a faculty member of MCGSBS with faculty privileges in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

She has been actively involved in educational efforts including teaching courses, advising students, and developing mentoring initiatives since joining Mayo Clinic in 2005. Among her leadership roles, she served as director of the SURF program at Mayo Clinic Florida from 2013-2019.
