Hernández reads in Spanish from a historical sketch written to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the Orden Caballeros de América (founded January 10, 1929). The brochure was printed at the Munguía print shop in San Antonio. During the interview Hernández mentions several people engaged in civil rights work to improve the educational opportunities of Mexican American children. People and organizations mentioned include Eleuterio Escobar, Alonso Perales, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Liga Pro-Defensa Escolar, Asociación Protectora de Madres (Association for the Protection of Mothers), among others.
