Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility
At CIT, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace that embraces all individuals. Our goal is to create and maintain an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported, regardless of their background, culture, or identity. CIT recognizes that diversity is vital to the success of our organization and is committed to promoting these values in every aspect of our work.
CIT DEIA Working Group
The CIT DEIA Working Group (DWG) is a team of passionate staff volunteers committed to improving the CIT culture and human experience for everyone in our organization.
Our collaborative efforts and DEIA programs and resources had a significant impact on our 2022 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) results, with an overall positive DEIA score of 77% and increased positive response ratings across all six indices and survey sections. We understand the impact a diverse workforce has on improving performance outcomes and shaping authentic team dynamics, and we're dedicated to expanding our efforts to enhance the CIT employee experience.
DEIA at NIH
The NIH-Wide Strategic Plan for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) articulates NIH’s commitment to embrace, strengthen, and integrate DEIA across all NIH activities. The plan prioritizes NIH’s role as a people-centered organization by uplifting its community and articulating NIH’s vision for enhancing DEIA in its operations, workforce, and research. The plan also demonstrates NIH’s commitment to integrate DEIA principles into all of its processes, policies, and programs.
CIT Align with NIH UNITE Initiative
The NIH UNITE Initiative was established to identify and address structural racism and promote racial equity and inclusion at NIH and within the larger biomedical research community. Its purpose is to advocate for and advance racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. CIT has aligned our efforts with those of NIH and other ICs in the four focus areas. Additionally, CIT’s Kevin Davis serves as a member of the U committee whose mission is to understand stakeholder experiences through listening and learning.
DEIA Resources
To drive systemic change and deepen awareness, we’ve curated resources that enable each of us to do our part by encouraging racial equity, inclusion, and social justice within our biomedical research community and the communities we serve. See our DEIA Resources below.
