Make Tech Giants Take Responsibility
Tech giants aren’t doing enough to prevent the sale of dangerous products on their platforms. We're calling on the Government to make online marketplaces legally responsible for the safety of products sold through their websites. Sign the petition: make tech giants take more responsibility.

Continuing to make online life safer
We've had some big wins in our fight to tackle online scams and fake reviews, so we’re focusing our efforts on preventing the sale of dangerous goods online.
Online shopping is more popular than ever, but UK laws have failed to keep pace. The result? Tech giants have been flooding UK households with thousands of unsafe products - and getting away with it. The new government has published a Product Regulation and Metrology Bill that presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make this right. But the government must ensure these new laws give online marketplaces clear legal responsibilities for keeping dangerous products off their sites and that they are backed up by tough enforcement, including heavy fines, when businesses fall short.
In the meantime, after years of failed promises about prioritising the safety of their customers, online marketplaces need to step up and do better now.
