TNPSC CESE Exam Pattern 2023
Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has established the TNPSC CESE Exam Pattern 2023 for the purpose of shortlisting qualified candidates for engineering services. The exam pattern and marking scheme for the TNPSC CESE exam 2023 must be examined by applicants before they can start preparing for the test. The following steps will set the stage for the selection process for TNPSC Engineering Services.
- Stage 1: Written-test, OMR Based

To qualify the exam, a candidate must pass each stage of the examination process. According to the TNPSC AE exam pattern 2023, the written test will consist of two papers worth 500 marks each. TNPSC AE Exam Pattern for Written Exam: Paper 1 & Paper 2
The first stage of the exam is the written exam. The exam will be held in offline mode by the TNPSC in various exam centres in Tamil Nadu. Check TNPSC CESE AE exam pattern in detail below:
- The TNPSC CESE Exam comprises two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Paper 1 will be a subject paper based on the Civil Engineering, Architectural Assistantship, and Handloom Technology /Textile Technology/Textile Manufacture subjects.
- The TNPSC CESE Civil engineering paper will be set in both English and Tamil while other subjects will be set in only English.
- CESE Paper 1 will be based on the Diploma Standard.
- The TNPSC CESE Paper 2 will be the General Studies paper and Mental Aptitude Ability paper of 100 marks.
- The level of TNPSC CESE Paper 2 will be that of HSC and SSLC level.
- The exam will be for 5 hours where paper 1 will be for 2 hours and paper 2 for 2 hours.

TNPSC AE Exam Pattern 2023: Qualifying Marks
The TNPSC has set the minimum qualifying marks for the exam that is tabulated below.
- The total mark of the TNPSC Combined Engineering paper is 500 marks.
- Candidates belonging to the SCs, SC(A)s, STs, BC(OBCM)s, MBCs/DCs, and BCMs category will have to obtain 150 Marks in both Paper I and Paper II combined.
- On the other hand, candidates who belong to the ‘other’ category will have to obtain at least 200 marks in both, Paper I and Paper II combined.
