From the given two figures, we can see their corresponding angles are different or unequal. Therefore, they are not similar.


Exercise 6.1 of NCERT Class 10 Maths Chapter 6, Triangles, deals with the basic concepts of Triangle. We can say that the exercise mainly deals with brushing up on the concepts that we have learnt in the previous classes. The first exercise of the chapter primarily deals with the fundamental explanations. Some of the topics that are focused on prior to Exercise 6.1 include the following.

  • Two figures are said to be congruent if they have the same shape and the same size.
  • Two similar figures that have the same shape but not necessarily the same size are called similar figures.
  • All congruent figures are similar but similar figures need not be congruent.
  • Two polygons of the same number of sides are similar, if
    • their corresponding angles are equal,
    • their corresponding sides are in the same ratio.
