What Is The Full Form Of AU?
AU stands for Audio Units.
AU is a set of API services that helps in the transmission of the audio file in near real-time. AU stands for Audio Units. In Apple systems, AU is system-level architecture. It allows the sound file over the local area network with many different options like stretching, pitch scaling, audio time, etc.
History:
The file format AU was introduced by Sun Microsystems. It is the standard audio file format for the programming language Java and the extension can be represented as the .au extension.
Advantages of AU:
- The AU file contains three parts: Audio data, Annotation block and text from the header.
- AU is also considered an extension, basically used in UNIX for the sound file program that belongs to Next, DEC, and Sun.
- AU is the software module that is generally used for virtual instruments and audio effects. The applications which support AU plug-ins can use these features.
- The finale is one feature through which we can get the benefit of audio plug-in architecture. We do not require any separate application to load the audio effects or the virtual instruments to host them.
Disadvantages of AU:
- To load a complex audio unit is a little challenging and time consuming even if we are opening it on a new system.
- The number of audio units used in a project completely depends on the device used.
- The editing of the Audio unit plug-ins is sometimes time consuming.
