Revision Notes For Class 10 Science Chapter 3 - Metals and Non-metals

Metals are substances that are usually solid and have characteristics like malleability, ductility, and are generally good conductors of heat and electricity. Non-metals, on the other hand, do not show any of the characteristics of metals. But there are a few exceptions such as graphite – it is the only non-metal that can conduct electricity.

Similarly, diamond is the best non-metal thermal conductor, it is five times more conductive than copper.
