ESPN impressed with Broncos' cornerback upgrades

Last month, ESPN’s Mike Clay published a list of the top position upgrades across the NFL. The Denver Broncos made the list as a team that made a big upgrade at cornerback.

Specifically, Clay highlighted Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby replacing Michael Ojemudia and A.J. Bouye in the starting lineup.

In addition to signing Fuller and Darby, the Broncos also used their first-round draft pick to select Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

“Combined with returning Bryce Callahan and 2020 third-round pick Ojemudia, Denver now has one of the league’s best and deepest cornerback groups,” Clay wrote on ESPN.com. “And if we include safeties Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson, the Broncos have arguably the league’s best overall secondary.”

Earlier this offseason, Clay projected a 9-8 season for Denver, which might put them in playoff contention. Last year, Clay predicted an 8-8 season for the Broncos and the team finished the season 5-11, last in the AFC West.
