Changes to our Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the updated version of the Privacy Policy on this website.
Social media accesses
We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks. The social networks used by us in detail can be found below.
Social networks such as Facebook etc. can generally analyze your user behavior comprehensively when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g. like buttons or advertising banners). By visiting our social media presences, numerous processing operations relevant to data protection are triggered. In detail:
If you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media presence, the operator of the social media portal can assign this visit to your user account. However, your personal data may also be collected under certain circumstances if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In this case, this data collection takes place, for example, via cookies that are stored on your terminal device or by recording your IP address.
With the help of the data collected in this way, the operators of the social media portals can create user profiles in which your preferences and interests are stored. In this way, you can be shown interest-based advertising inside and outside the respective social media presence. Provided you have an account with the respective social network, the interest-based advertising may be displayed on all devices on which you are or were logged in.
Please also note that we cannot track all processing on the social media portals. Depending on the provider, further processing operations may therefore be carried out by the operators of the social media portals. For details, please refer to the terms of use and data protection provisions of the respective social media portals.
Legal basis for social media
Our social media presences are intended to ensure the most comprehensive presence possible on the Internet. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on deviating legal bases to be specified by the operators of the social networks (e.g. consent within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. a DSGVO).
Responsible party and assertion of rights
If you visit one of our social media sites (e.g. Facebook), we are jointly responsible with the operator of the social media platform for the data processing operations triggered during this visit. In principle, you can assert your rights (information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and complaint) both vis-à-vis us and vis-à-vis the operator of the respective social media portal (e.g. vis-à-vis Facebook).
Please note that despite the joint responsibility with the social media portal operators, we do not have full influence on the data processing operations of the social media portals. Our options are largely determined by the corporate policy of the respective provider.
Storage period
The data collected directly by us via the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as the purpose for storing it no longer applies, you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. Stored cookies remain on your terminal device until you delete them. Mandatory legal provisions - in particular retention periods - remain unaffected.
We have no influence on the storage period of your data, which is stored by the operators of social networks for their own purposes. For details, please contact the operators of the social networks directly (e.g. in their privacy policy, see below).
Facebook Pixel, Custom Audiences and Facebook Conversion
On our websites, the so-called "Facebook Pixel" of the social network Facebook is used, i.e. by Facebook Inc, 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or if you are a resident of the EU, by Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland.
The Facebook pixel allows Facebook to target visitors to our websites for the presentation of Facebook advertisements ("Facebook Ads").
Accordingly, we use the Facebook pixel on our websites to present Facebook ads placed by us only to those Facebook users who have already shown an interest in our websites or to whom certain "characteristics" are assigned (e.g. interest in topics or offers determined on the basis of visited websites). The Facebook pixel is also used to ensure that our Facebook advertising matches the interest level of users and is not perceived as annoying.
The Facebook pixel is also used to statistically analyze how effective our Facebook advertising is, as it allows us to see whether or how often users clicked on our advertising and were redirected to our website.
The processing of the data by Facebook takes place within the framework of Facebook's data usage policy. General information on the display of Facebook advertising can be found in Facebook's data usage policy. Specific information and details about the Facebook Pixel and how it works can be found here.
You can opt-out of the Facebook Pixel's collection and use of your data to display Facebook ads. On this page you will find information on the settings of usage-based advertising within Facebook. The settings are platform-independent, i.e. they are then applied on all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.
On our web pages, plugins of the social network Share This are used, which is operated by Share This, Inc., 4005 Miranda Avenue Suite 100, Palo Alto, CA 94304 - 1227 USA ("Share This"). The plugins are recognizable, for example, by buttons with a white arrow on a green background. An overview of the Share This plugins and their appearance can be found here.
When you call up a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to the servers of Share This. The content of the plugin is transmitted by Share This directly to your browser and integrated into the page. Through the integration, Share This receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website and stores a cookie on your terminal device to identify your browser. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted by your browser directly to a Share This server in the USA and stored there. Share This uses the data to create anonymized user profiles, which serves as the basis for personalized and interest-based advertising targeting of visits to websites with Share This plugins.
For the purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Share This, please refer to the privacy policy of Share This. You can also completely prevent the loading of Share This plugins with add-ons for your browser.
