VPAA Mission

The Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA) provides enterprise-wide learning governance and services in support of Faculty and Staff Development, Instructional Design, and Institutional Research and Assessment to advance the Army's learning processes and develop innovative and adaptive Soldiers and Civilians to fight and win in multi-domain combat operations. Additionally, VPAA works to expand Public/Private Partnerships and Professional Research.

Key Functions

  • Proponent for the Army’s Faculty and Staff Development Program​.
  • Proponent for Captains Career Course common core curriculum.​
  • Manages Critical Requirements Review process for Professional Military Education (PME) common core.
  • Implements best practices in adult learning across the Army Learning Enterprise.
  • Provides expertise in Instructional Design for the Learning Enterprise.
  • Proponent for the ArmyU Research Program and Human Research Protection Plan.​
  • ArmyU lead for supporting foreign military education programs.
  • Editor of the Journal of Military Learning.

VPAA is the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command’s (TRADOC) lead organization to implement best practices in adult learning across the entire Army Learning Enterprise.​
