Description

ECG+ integrates with Apple Health to unleash the greatest power of your Apple Watch ECG, by analyzing and calculating intervals like QT/QTc, PR or QRS, and heart rate variability (HRV) out of your ECG data. QT/QTc are critical measurements linked to life-threatening arrhythmias. HRV is widely considered one of the best objective metrics for physical fitness and determining your body’s readiness to perform.

HRV refers to the variation in time between successive heartbeats, which is an indicator of the health of the autonomic nervous system. QT interval refers to the time it takes for the heart to recharge between beats, which is important for assessing cardiac health.

In the ECG+ app, you can do many things about your ECG recordings from Apple Watch ECG -

1. HRV Trends - with HRV trends you can learn your health level changes. A up hill trend means a better physical fitness level and a down hill indicates you should pay more attention to your overall health. With QT trends you can monitor closely your QT intervals over a period of time and seek healthcare attention whenever a prolonged QT is identified automatically.

2. Measure QT and calculate QTc - ECG+ app automatically identify and measure QT for you, and you can choose one out of 6 QTc formulas to do the QTc calculation

3. Long QTc warning - the app automatically calculates and shows a long QTc warning if a QTc is exceeding the normal range (normal range is based on gender)

4. ECG report - ECG+ app provides a much more comprehensive report than the default report from Apple Health, and it includes R-R markings, HRV Poincaré plot, 6 intervals, heartbeat signatures and more, with which you can get a much clearer picture of how your heart is functioning

[Disclaimer]
All findings associated to the ECG readings in the ECG+ app, including but not limited to PAC/PVC detection, Long QT detection and HRV calculation, do NOT suggest diagnosis. It only provides more information for you with which to consult your doctor, not as a substitute to doing so.

What’s New

Version 1.8.7

The latest version of ECG+ introduces several improvements to enhance your experience:
More Accurate PVC Detection: With an improved algorithm, the app now identifies premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) with greater precision.
Detailed Explanations: Each finding on your ECG report is accompanied by clearer, more detailed explanations, helping you better understand your heart’s activity.
Automatic QRS Amplitude Calculation: ECG+ is now the only app that automatically calculates QRS amplitude, giving you a more comprehensive analysis.

Wish it offered more for free

It’s nice to use but I wish it offered more in the free version. It’s a bummer that all these apps are trying to get so much money all the time just to have more information so they only give you a little bit. It’s better than nothing though and seems fairly comprehensive.I’ll keep using the free version until I find if there’s a better more useful free version of another app if not, I might have to pay for this one.

Seems expensive…

This software seems to be based entirely off of Apple Watch ECG feature of putting your finger on the crown for 30 seconds. During that time you have to be still, which means you can’t use it during heavy exercise. I was also under the impression Apple Watch couldn’t detect PVCs. So just how useful the ECG feature is on Apple Watch is still a mystery to me. I do own Apple Watch 9, and every usage of ECG says “this ecg doesn’t show any signs of…”.

In contrast, hospital grade devices, like Holter, are worn over the heart for 48 hours as you live your life normally, exercise and all. The entire period of time is later analyzed.

In terms of some metrics a consumer grade chest strap, like Polar H10, is considered superior to wrist worn devices, such as staying connected while moving around, providing continuous readings, etc. Why doesn’t ECG+ have an option of directly collecting chest strap readings for a variable duration, like hours, even while exercising? In my opinion, this ECG+ isn’t built on the strongest foundation and I can’t see how it’s worth $120.

Developer Response ,

Thanks very much for your feedback. Although Apple Watch ECG doesn't detect PVCs by itself but the readings (lead I or II depending on which wrist you wear the watch) is sufficient for a sophisticated algorithm to match the premature contractions pattern and call them out.

In terms of supporting other ECG devices, we do have the capacity to support more devices, especially those with long time recordings, where our algorithm can do a much better job in finding a lot more things of interests. However not everybody is willing to share their data with others, for different reasons but mostly protecting their own interests.

ECG+ is built on a strong algorithm to parse and interpret ECG readings (1 lead or 12 leads, 30 seconds or hours), and given Apple Watch's ease of use, openness level and superior reading quality, it is, I am afraid, one of the strongest options.

Thanks again.

No way to contact purchased item toys

I purchased this for myself for $10 a month and wanted to add my father so we purchased a family plan at 50 something a month now I try to connect myself to my dad’s family plan and now the amount has creased by another $10 so I’d have to redo the whole thing for $65… I think this is unethical. I purchased the highest amount of a plan that was available for my father at this time. I’ve tried to reach out to the developer but there’s not a response for a month so I have spent20 for me. I purchased it yesterday for myself because I couldn’t use it on the family plan… That tells you how much I like it… However, there’s no way to rectify this so they’ve gotten over $100 from me in one month.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback BenMonk. I believe we have taken care of your case but if not (we receive requests to make purchase changes to support family sharing regularly), please shoot us another email from within the app settings. Normally purchase matters are handled by Apple, but for your case we do have a little space where we can manoeuvre to make the change for you. Thanks.
