My Experience Was Life Saving

With my prior 2 years experience with heart problems and multiple procedures and test, my aortic valve was discussed multiple times! I was told it wasn’t ready for replacement!
After a hospital stay in December 2023 I was released from the hospital with shortness of breath and fatigue/weakness and edema in my legs symptoms! My insurance authorized home care nurse and physical therapy. After several weeks my progress was minimal and the shortness of breath and edema had gotten worse! At that point my home care nurse called my nephrologist with concerns of my well being. I was told to go directly to hospital ED and she, the nephrologist , would meet me there! After a couple of test it was determined I needed my aortic valve replaced! I was admitted to Advent Hospital Pepin Heart Institute for the surgery. After a weekend of dialysis I was cleared for surgery and the results were a miracle!
Now 30 days after TAVR surgery I’m feeling better everyday and currently attending Advent Cardiac Rehabilitation and I’m up to 2 miles on my goal of 3 miles a day in the near future!
Feeling better than good and thankful to God, my Doctors, Nurses, Technicians at Advent Hospital for saving my life!

First time admitted

This was a surprise to be admitted, everything one was very kind and I appreciate Nurse Serena for catching the issue while conducting my discharge, Nurse Jay was great throughout the night and busy for sure but the nurses that worked her shift were horrible no patient care or support for their coworker I called twice to ask for someone to come and unhook my IV so that I am able to go to the bathroom although nurse Jay was busy none of the other nurses who were working with her and also sitting in front of my door would come and take off my IV so I can go use the bathroom instead they had me waiting for 10 minutes about to pee on myself until I unhooked myself as someone who works in the hospital to be very disrespectful and not at all any type of patient care, and that is the one thing that scared me about being in a hospital was being with people who are supposed to care for me for any reason and then simply not caring. God forbid that my heart rate had spiked, and I went into cardiac arrest. They would not do nothing and that is how I truly feel aside from the two nurses that I worked with everyone that 7 PM to 7 AM shift were horrible so I appreciate nurse Jay very much. and because of her, I felt safe.

Winter Park Hospital

I was admitted due to a fall in August 2024 and the care I received was phenomenal from the minute I walked in, everyone was attentive and helpful trying to ease my concerns. Once I was admitted to a room I was quickly taken for the required test and monitored every hour. I saw many people, doctors, nurses and specialists but one nurse was absolutely amazing. Her name was Kendra and I honestly have never met a human who was attentive, calm, patient and kind as her. She checked on me kept me informed on my status got me food early because I had not eaten anything and while I took a shower she changed my bedding. During discharge she told me what to look for and things in my labs I should follow up on. She was the sweetest caring nurse I have ever met and truly helped me during that very scary situation. I thank everyone who I came in contact with those two days I was there but she will forever be in my heart for the care she provided me.
