Description
Tusks makes posting to Mastodon feel like publishing to your blog.
This is a Mastodon client with no timeline — just your posts. More specifically, it’s built around threads.
Starting a new thread is just as easy as making a single post. But that’s not what makes it special.
Tusks actively discourages posting into a vacuum, therefore losing valuable context. This is achieved by making it effortless to continue threading narratives. Each post becomes an update to a bigger story.
This priority shift should make your account a higher quality follow.
So, who is it for?
To be clear, if you don’t post and are not interested in writing, then not you. Otherwise…
• If you post regularly, then you.
• If you blog, then you.
• If you want to write (more), then you.
Also: if you post occasionally, then Tusks could encourage you to post more.
# Features
Tusks show your posts as well as any of your follow-ups to the original post (to be clear, you won’t see any users replies, or your interactions with users).
There are several features to help with organizing and publishing.
• Pin threads for quick access.
• Hide posts that you don’t expect to follow-up, so your list is always relevant.
• You can set unique titles for each thread for faster recall.
• Search ignores irrelevant posts (i.e. interactions with users).
• Write as much as you want in one-go and press a button to split it up into multiple posts.
In addition, drafting is a first-class feature. You can draft new threads, and as many follow-ups to already published posts.
# Availability
Tusks has iOS, iPadOS and macOS clients. A lot of work has gone into optimising for each form factor, so they always feel at home. All your drafts, pins and labels will be synced across your devices too.
# Pricing
Tusks has all features enabled for free users, except for one.
If you want to publish content to Mastodon, you’ll need to upgrade to Tusks Pro — this is available through an in-app purchase. No subscription required. All payments will be charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase.
# Privacy
Tusks takes your privacy very seriously. It does not store any personal data — it stays completely private.

What’s New
Version 1.22
Hot-fix update to fix jumping cursor issue when composing a post that requires a scrollbar due to text length.
Also everything below from the previous update:
**New**
- You can now edit already published posts! This is possible through the “Edit” option on a long press (right-click) or right swipe on a published post in the thread view. The scope of edits is currently restricted to the main text (post content). The ability to change media in your post as well as change post sensitivity/spoiler text will be added in a future update.
- [Cmd + E] is the new keyboard shortcut for editing a post, and [Cmd + Shift + E] is the remapped shortcut to edit a thread’s drafts.
- Added a new setting in ”Threads” section that allows you to change the sort order of posts in a thread view. Defaults to ascending, which makes the first post in a thread appear at the top (and your drafts/composer at the bottom) i.e. what you’re used to. However you can flip this around to descending so your drafts appear at the top (composer above!) followed by the latest post down to the first.
- New icon from the supremely talented Andy Carolan. Thank you so much!
**Improvements**
- Published posts in a thread view are — as referenced above — now swipable. A right swipe gives you the option to edit the post, and a left swipe to delete the post from the server.
- “Posts” section in Settings renamed to “Threads” to better reflect its scope.
- No longer says ”Queued” when referring to drafts in progress. This change in anticipation of scheduling capabilities to come, as the concept of queuing is more closely associated in this context. So, moving forward, anything not scheduled but drafted will be highlighted as a draft, and once scheduling comes into play, queued will indicated something that has been scheduled to be auto-posted later.
**Fixes**
- A thread that has had its replies forked will be elegantly merged when possible with no user input required.
- Editing drafts for a thread on a right-click should work again (was showing it as empty sometimes).
- The context menu for a thread on the Posts feed won’t incorrectly show a thread as having drafts to edit when there are actually none.
- When you [Re-order] drafts, UI will not jump.
- When are you done re-ordering drafts, the composer will correctly restore its state allowing you to navigate between existing drafts.
- Any published post with drafts should always show in the Drafts screen in the Replies section.
- If there’s no spoiler text, spoiler warning will not incorrectly show.
- Should not see a post duplicated in the Drafts screen’s replies when it’s a draft for a thread that’s only had a single post.
