Unbelievably slow on the first gen iPad Air

After they retired the old app and asked us to upgrade to the new, and presumably, better app, I discovered that the app runs incredibly slow on my first generation iPad Air. While it is already obsolete, it still offers smooth reading experience in another magazine apps such as those from Wired, Nat Geo, or Time.

And so far I’ve found no way to make this app run smoother. So 2 stars it is. I don’t give 1 star because at least the UI looks nice.
