Description
This app, which was fully developed by ANCOM following the monitoring campaigns conducted annually starting 2019, enables you to consult the map of mobile signal coverage in Romanian localities and along national and county roads. Users can thus follow the coverage evolution from one year to another. The platform reflects the mobile signal coverage for all technologies available at the time of measurements (2G/3G/4G) for each of the mobile operators active on the Romanian market, the level of the aggregate signal throughout the country, the maximum level measured for signals from neighbouring countries (inadvertent roaming), as well as the map with mobile voice signal of Bucharest metro network.

Following the provisions of Article 137, paragraph (1) of Law no. 255 for amending and completing the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 111/2011 on electronic communications , in 2024 ANCOM conducted measurements in the administrative-territorial units located in the border area to assess the risk of roaming.
Involuntary roaming is the situation where the mobile phone automatically connects to mobile networks from neighbouring countries while the user is in the border areas of Romania. This situation can occur when the signal in neighbouring countries is stronger than the local signal, and the user's phone is set to automatic mode, thus causing the phone to connect to foreign networks and apply international roaming charges. Involuntary roaming situations can occur where the signal from a neighbouring country's telecommunications network is significantly stronger than that of the user's domestic network, in areas with poor coverage (weak signal or at the sensitivity limit), or when the network is temporarily unavailable (for example, due to incidents or scheduled maintenance)
