Description

Noir is a Safari extension that automatically adds a dark mode to every website you visit.

It makes browsing the web at night so much better. With Noir, you won’t be blinded by bright websites ever again.

And the results look great too. Noir generates a custom dark style for each website you visit, based on the colors that are used on a page. You won’t even notice this happening in the background – that’s how fast it is – but you’ll certainly appreciate the end result: a beautiful dark mode tailored for each website, where contrast is preserved and highlights still pop. And with over 20 built-in themes and the ability to create your own, you can customize the results exactly the way you want.

Noir works with any website you visit in Safari, automatically. By default, Noir is linked to your device’s Dark Mode, so websites will only go dark when you want them to. But you can easily customize this to your liking, even per website. Only want to use Noir on just a few specific websites? Sure thing! Disable Noir on some websites? No problem!

Built from the ground up for iOS and iPadOS, the app feels right at home on your device. It supports the brand new Safari web extension feature, which means there’s no need to manually activate it every time you load a new page. The app also tightly integrates with system features such as Shortcuts, Control Center, Focus Filters, and Widgets to fully integrate Noir in all your workflows. And your settings are automatically synced to all your devices using iCloud.

And just as importantly, Noir takes your privacy seriously: it doesn’t collect any of your browsing data. Period.

Noir is made by an indie iOS developer. It does not include any subscriptions or ads. Buy Noir once, use it forever.

Notes:
• Found a website where Noir’s dark mode doesn’t look just right? Let me know by reporting it. The app will be frequently updated to address issues that are reported.

Privacy Policy:
• The Noir extension requires access to the websites you visit to analyze the existing style of the page and to override it with Noir's dark style.
• Noir never collects your browsing data. The only data Noir ‘collects’ are your settings, and those will never leave your device or iCloud account.
• You can read Noir’s full Privacy Policy at https://getnoir.app/privacypolicy

What’s New

Version 2024.3.2

Hi there! This update of Noir adds support for many new and shiny iOS and iPadOS features. Here's what's new:

# Control Center Integration
You can now quickly enable or disable Noir right from your Control Center. Configuring Noir has never been easier.

# Dark and Tinted Icons and Widgets
All of Noir's icons and widgets now work with the new Home Screen customization features of iOS and iPadOS. Noir will fit right in on any Home Screen.

# New App Icon
To allow you to customize your Home Screen even further to your liking, there's a new 'Simple' icon for Noir. You can change your icon from the More tab.

# New Theme
There's a new theme available in the Theme Library, based on the popular (code) editor theme gruvbox.

In order to use many of these new features, make sure you update iOS 18.

2024.3.1: Fixes an issue with Noir's widgets on earlier versions of iOS
2024.3.2: Many website fixes and improvements based on your reports. Thanks!
2024.3.2: You can now 'stop' a Focus Filter in the Noir app when one is active. The Focus won't change, but the settings applied by the Focus Filter will be reverted.

Noir is made by just one person (hi!). Thank you so much for all your support throughout the years. If you can, please consider leaving a review of Noir in the App Store or telling your friends about the app. Both really help a lot. Thanks!

Jeffrey

Must have

If you do any reading of websites at night… like, I don’t know, everyone? Then you need this app to tame the brightness of all those websites where the designers can’t be bothered doing a dark mode. Even Wikipedia can’t get its act together.

It’s not perfect - occasionally websites get confused about their colors, and some times the whole page doesn’t render dark. But that’s because this safari extension is trying to do a very tricky job, and it keeps on improving, so it’s the best you can expect.

Thanks for this app.

A must have for your eyes

If you enjoy dark mode to save your eyes, then having websites also bend to your will and display dark is a must have right? Using this fantastic app you can do it! I’ve been enjoying this app for six months now and had quickly forgotten how amazing it was until I used an iPhone which didn’t have it. Don’t upset your eyes, buy this now and you too can give your eyes a well deserved rest!

Game Changer!

From when Dark Mode was added I have loved it, but have always had a bit of a problem with Safari. When your going through your iPhone or iPad and you open up Safari and search in something and all that light just hits you, and wakes you right up. It’s just down right annoying! This app does exactly what it says and its superb. 10/10 Recommended!
