First insurance taken out for my 17 year old son, app easy to follow could chat any time, easy box insulation just plug and go all info relayed back to the app so easy to keep track. As a parent reassured that safe driving is tracked and recorded. Defo recommend.

You need a new phone for a good score

Ticker uses the phones hardware to detect driving events. If you or and named driver have an old low powered phone then it will misreport the acceleration and lead to low scores and eventual cancellation.

We know this because we noticed that our son was getting a really low score with threats to cancel. Ticker give you no information on the incidents, so we used Life360 driving alerts. Straight away we noticed he had almost constant harsh breaking and acceleration events on that app. This seemed off considering how underpowered his car was. I looked at mine which is a much more powerful car without a blackbox restricting my driving and I had no Life360 alerts. We then compared occasions when we both traveled in the same car, he had a bunch of alerts, again I had none.

Last week I lent him a newer iPhone and his score has shot up. Nothing else changed.

It is clear that they are using bad quality data. It wouldn't have cost them much to put reliable and consistent accelerometers into the blackbox 🙄

Not detailed enough

Very limited information. If the driving score goes down, there is no information to allow you to inform which driver or which journey has been low scoring. My daughter has a plug in tracker with an app with AChoice insurance and is so much better. If you know where you’re going g wrong, you can improve. Just reducing your score with no context isn’t helpful. If you have the opportunity to chose an alternative, I would suggest people do that. Giving actual mileage rather than % used would also help as your flagging me to buy more mileage when I don’t need to.
