Very useful app!

Originally through my own ignorance I gave this 1 star. I’ll leave my original review down below for the record.

Wanted to send some money fast. Was told WU can send in minutes. Installed app and signed up. Got successfully verified. Set up my debit card. Tried to send a test amount of money and… 24 hours later still “in progress”. Money was taken immediately from my account, of course. Quite frustrating.

It turned out that the receiving client did not read their AliPay notifications. There was something they needed to do on their end. After they did it the transfer completed within a few seconds. I sent more money and it went through within minutes. So I over-reacted and posted a 1 star review. I’ve changed it to a deserving 5 star review now. Thanks WU!

AVOID THIS APPLICATION

I reluctantly used this application for a couple years. All the points I got were useless as I was never able to redeem them but, what made me stop using and deleting my account and application off my telephone was, their very inconvenient and ridiculous identity proof system they implemented recently. Asking people for a very detailed photo of their passports or driving licenses andthen their faces is JUST not right. Anyone can later use those to commit any frauds or crimes but, is if it was not enough, the application will not let you do this because, when verifying the identity, time will expire for security reasons so one can’t do it either. Finally, when calling customers support, they say one has to go to a store and prove our identity. What the hell ?? Is this the army or what so, CONCLUSION: a major hassle to use this and it’s not worth. It will be total nightmare. I changed for REMIT.

Came to Western Union because another app referred me to it saying that Wester Union offers the best exchange rate! ( yes , the other app has a price comparison feature before you progress with your transfer). So I came here. It turned out that WU only offers great rates for the very first transfer. Then it comes down significantly from the second transfer onwards. The app navigation is clunky. The remittance was fast but the status change on tracking was not real time : Minutes after I received my money, the WU app still showed my transfer was in progress not letting me initiate a second transfer. All this happens before even while my ID validation was in progress. And then I started seeing ads on the app! That was a big turn off. Three things worry me - why did the app let me remit without saying my ID was validated; why wasn’t the status of transfer updated even after I had received money ( there was a good 10 minute delay); why do I see an ad?
