Possibly the best podcast player

This is no hyperbole — if your aim is to intentionally listen to podcasts, and have a way to retain them, then this tool is the best way to do that. The smart ‘snipping’ feature is fantastic, and often grabs the most relevant part of the conversation. Being able to preview an episode by its most popular snips is great for discovery. The interface is super smooth looking, and I have had NO crashes or errors in playback (which is quite refreshing given the other top app in this space is rife with bugs..). And the cherry on top is abundant export options to your PKM tool of choice.
The only feature I would request is the ability to have transcripts from private podcasts — then this would be perfect.

Cool AI but unfortunately lacking on some basics

I wanted to like this, and I do, but not as my main player. The AI features are really neat, but basic issues detailed below have never been ironed out, even though this app is now a few years old.

The play queue should sync between devices. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t or doesn’t work. Maybe this only affects a small number of users who move between devices, but as someone who needs a separate work device, the experience of trying to match them up is tedious.

There’s also a strange restriction in that episodes in your play queue cannot be manually downloaded while on cellular. Like, why? I often have patchy internet and want to be able to download episodes when I’m able to, or ahead of travel. I can only do that at home.

Everything I wanted

I was a huge fan of the AirrQuote app before this, but the interface was too buggy and it had very minimal features. Snipd is everything I wanted AirrQuote to be. Not only is the interface clean and responsive, but it implements every feature that AirrQuote was lacking. Even down to the ability to customise actions with your headphones (i prefer setting fast-forward to “take snip”). Readwise integration was also a must for me. Ease of sharing snips is also incredibly smooth. All this on top of AI driven smart snipping and transcripts makes this app almost perfect.

If I could have one additional feature, it would be the ability to follow friends to easily check out their snips.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, thanks so much for the great review! We are actually working on a Community feature that is currently in private beta that you could be a great fit for based on your feature request.

Could you please send us an email to hello@snipd.com if you are interested in joining the beta program? 😊
