Too many scammers

Hi there POF. While this dating app is quite good I have been scammed at least 4 times. It is an awful experience to feel you have connected with someone and have shared private things etc only to be then asked for Steam Cards etc. one scammer said he was sending me a package so I foolishly gave him my address. The next thing I knew I was receiving fake emails from Maersk the shipping company asking for 1500 euros for the package to be released from Turkish customs. It wasn’t until I received a few of the fake emails that I started to become suspicious of their language and. Content etc. I still feel saddened that I was tricked by these men and feel hesitant to trust again. I have since seen the same scammers going under another name with same pics. I have reported them and they have been banned.

Starts good but poor functionality

Although inundated with notifications at the start, these dwindle away and difficulty trying to conduct a conversation frustrated as the app doesn’t update messages, unless you go out of messages and then back in. This causes unnecessary delays and isn’t conducive to connecting with a potential mate. Additional notifications include every time someone ‘views’ you. A waste of time if there’s no communication as you can’t click on the person who viewed you without paying for an upgrade. Although better than Tinder as people need to complete some questions which gives an idea about the type if person and what they are looking for, when swiping you only see an age and the location they have nominated. Often a name can indicate if someone is serious or not. Alternatively being able to swipe through people who tick the boxes for you would be an improvement. POF also takes more time to scan through the answers most relevant to you, contrasting colours would make it easier to quickly scan info to find out if someone wants children, for example, before swiping left it right.
The idea behind POF is good and makes more sense for someone looking for a relationship, compared to Tinder. That they have to enter some basic info about what they are looking for and about themselves puts it a long way ahead. However, the app requires much more development to improve the user experience.

A waste of time, do not bother with this App, a way to scam people for membership payments!

The app caters towards those with paid membership! I’ve had multiple other users like me, besides the fact the likes are hidden behind a pay wall, I will circumnavigate through the Alerts to see the like; then scroll through the search page to locate them, then I will find them and go to their profile seeing I had liked them previously, not giving me the option to open dialogue even though we have a mutual like. I will click “message” only to receive a pop up that states “You’re not allowed to message this person” even though they liked me 30mins ago, meaning, the app is purposefully blocking contact between interested parties, in my opinion to specifically coax you into a paid membership.
Honestly, I have better luck meeting people out in public than I do on this app and I’m allowed to speak to people. I feel like this all has me scrolling and liking for about a hour a day of interaction, just for me to not allow me to contact anyone that I’ve linked with, on 6months, I’ve linked with about 50people, been able to contact 4of them, and only met 1 of them.

A waste of time, do not bother with this App, most likely a way to scam people for membership payments!
