Description

Fight the social media algorithms and win back control over your social media usage & your subconsciousness!

“one sec” forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open one of the configured websites or apps (Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram,…). This breaks unconcious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these websites and apps.

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present: Did you really want to open Instagram?
This app helps you to reflect your actions, thoughts, and feelings; disrupting harmful social media habits with mindfulness.

Changed my life

Where do I even begin? This app brought a change to my life that was desperately needed. After struggling mentally for years and drowning myself in mindless scrolling my screen time was anywhere from 6-14 hours a day. I realised that I was spending almost half my life on something that I would only remember for a few minutes afterwards. It was taking time away from more meaningful things like family, study and hobbies that I actually enjoyed doing and brought something to look forward to each day.

Even though it has only been a couple days after downloading this app, it has taken my time on my phone to only 1-2 hours a day (which is mostly just keeping in touch with friends, family and school). I have had time to take up crocheting which I thoroughly enjoy and feel that I am able to concentrate more at university. My mental health has already improved, I feel more connected socially, and am being more productive than I ever have been. I find it amazing how just a quick 10 second break can make you question whether or not you really need to be on social media.

To the makers of this app; thank you. You have brought a change desperately needed in a time where so many people are detached from reality and have made my life so much more fulfilling in mere days. Everyone should download one sec!

So useful and easy to use

I love one sec, I have it on my phone and my laptop, its just so useful! I love that it doesn't fully lock my device, just forces me to pause before mindlessly scrolling; it makes me reflect on whether thats what I really want to do without restricting me from accessing apps if I really need to use them. Definitely recommend, as its free and easy, and on your phone the paid version is not necessary, but if you do get it it is affordable and adds some cool extra features (but again, not ecessary). I love one sec, its just such a perfect app that gives you extra super-customisable features that Apple's "Screen Time" just does not have. Worth a try if you're on the fence, and they have heaps of really clear tutorials on how to set it up.

Only content blocker that has ever worked for me.

The way this app, and it’s desktop and web versions, has improved my quality of life is impossible to understate. Ran it for one week on Facebook, and then immediately purchased the full version. I expected it to be one of those things that I stay on top of for a week or so, then fall off the bandwagon. 2 months in and I’m still going strong, and noticing that I don’t miss a thing.

$25? Pro is the biggest change the littlest amount of money has ever made in my life.

Previous content blockers, I’d uninstall, or work my way around. This is the only one that has effectively worked. I have never considered deleting it once. It does the complete opposite of all the social media, attention grabbing tactics, giving you the space to slow down and actually think.

I feel so much more in control of my own mind, so much happier. Thank you to the developer for helping me get that back. I highly recommend this app to anyone who struggles with distractions on their phone.
