Description

Falling Fruit is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Boulder, Colorado, USA. All proceeds from sales of the app help pay to keep our servers online. This app cost is itself a tax deductible donation, and we greatly appreciate your support in keeping the project online!

Our global map of edibles is not the first of its kind, but it aspires to be the world's most comprehensive. While our users contribute locations of their own, we comb the internet for pre-existing knowledge, seeking to unite the efforts of foragers, foresters, and freegans everywhere. The imported datasets range from small neighborhood foraging maps to vast professionally-compiled tree inventories. This so far amounts to 1,258 different types of edibles (most, but not all, plant species) distributed over 787,435 locations. Beyond the cultivated and commonplace to the exotic flavors of foreign plants and long-forgotten native plants, foraging in your neighborhood is a journey through time and across cultures.

Falling Fruit is not associated with Fallen Fruit. Fallen Fruit can be found at fallenfruit.org.

Broken App

This app must no longer be supported or maintained because I see now it hasn’t been updated for 6 years. When I open it it just says “loading” and it never loads and nothing happens and you can’t do anything or click on anything. It really should not be for sale since it is not functional.

Love the concept, hate the app

I have been using Falling Fruit for years and it is fabulous, except I cant add any new things to the map in Australia. I’ve tried on three separate occasions to add an olive tree and it won’t show up on the map. Wish it would work properly so I could use it as intended!

Great resource, very user friendlyy

Really useful. My only gripe is that every time you zoom in or out the location tags have to reload themselves - presumably chewing through both data and battery unnecessarily.
