Beyond a trainwreck
I’m writing my first ever app review after a decade of having an iPhone because of how bewildered I am at how much a simple metro map-app could drop the ball so much.
Because the app should have INCREDIBLY simple functionality, I’ll explain its shortcomings in as simple terms as I can.
It has just COMPLETELY wrong route timings. Sometimes up to 40 minutes off the mark.
It struggles to find an accurate route between two places.
It will often try and send you in the wrong direction to make utterly redundant connections.
And don’t even TRY to use “closest station to landmark” search results.
I popped in Jamsil stadium, and the app attempted to try and send me an hour in the completely different direction. Luckily I smelt something off and managed to save myself an afternoon.
Weirdly, If I’m not mistaken, this is the same company that puts together metro apps for the London tube and a whole bunch of subways across the globe. Because those ones seem to work just fine.
I guess they have a set of parameters and try to plug google maps api’s into a framework to make a quick buck. Because I can promise you, no one who has touched this app has ever step foot close to Seoul.
You’re best off getting a paper map.
Not that great..
It doesn’t always show you the quickest and hassle free way. Like if I want to go to Sadang from Hongik university it’ll show you the airport train line which is not frequent and you’ll have to change. Which takes more than the 23 mins shown. They don’t take that sort of thing into consideration. However if you input the station next to it which has no other line running through it, you’ll see a much quicker and direct way of going to Sadang which was also possible in the original station you leave from.
