I found stupid that a lot of childish Sparity Fans still believe that this pairing is going to be canon despite Meghan McCarthy officially strikes down Sparity, but Sparity Fans are stubborn people who will attack anyone who disagrees with them. 
But, I also agree that is the showrunner fault for giving fuel to this ship in the first place, so I hope that Season 10 which is going to be a comic, they finally make a story in the comic about Rarity telling Spike to get over this crush he has for her.
