Receiving Your Decision
Students that apply by the Nov. 1 Early Action deadline are guaranteed an Admissions decision by Jan. 30. Students that apply by the Feb. 1 Regular Decision deadline are guaranteed an Admissions decision by Apr. 1.
Once you submit your application, you may check your application status in your Future 49er Portal.
- Please allow 3 to 5 business days for your application and documents sent through the Common App to reflect as received in your Future 49er Portal.
- All applications and documents are time-stamped with your actual submission date and time. Even if you don’t see your application or documents in your portal immediately, we note when they were originally submitted via the Common App and process your application accordingly.

Admit
- Congratulations! We are excited to offer you admission to Charlotte. View your Enrollment To-Do List for next steps!
Admit, Denied to major of choice
- You do not meet the competitive requirements for admission directly into your chosen major.
- Your major has been changed to “Undecided” for now, and you will work with an academic advisor within the University College who will assist you with pursuing your intended major.
Defer
- You remain under active consideration, but we are not prepared to make a final admissions decision at this time.
- Submit mid-year grades and connect with your admissions counselor to discuss what you can do to strengthen your application.
- You will be re-reviewed as part of our Regular Decision applicant pool and are guaranteed an Admissions decision by Apr. 1.
Passport Admit (Local Students Only)
- You’re invited to join our Passport Program, offered in conjunction with Central Piedmont Community College!
- Passport students complete 24 hours of transferable credit at Central Piedmont during their first year and then transition to Charlotte in their second year.

49erNext Admit
- You’re invited to join 49erNext, offered in conjunction with select North Carolina Community Colleges!
- 49erNext is a guaranteed admission pathway for students living near a participating community college who do not initially gain admission to Charlotte as a first-year student.

Spring Admit
- You are not a competitive applicant for the Fall class, but we recognize your achievements and wish to offer admission to the following Spring.
- Students admitted for spring may take classes during the fall semester at another institution. If they choose to take classes, we can assist them in selecting appropriate transfer coursework for their intended major.
Deny
- We are unable to offer you admission to Charlotte, based on first-year criteria.
- Consider future transfer options! An admissions counselor can discuss more about the transfer pathway with you!
