Belmont Band Wins State
Belmont Band Makes History!

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Belmont Cardinal Band made history. For the first time in over 30 years and perhaps in school history, the band earned a superior rating at MHSAA’s state marching band evaluation. The band was scored on Color Guard, Percussion, Drum Major along with three band judges. The staff and students have worked hard since July 13, 2024, to achieve this goal.

Belmont Senior Ameslee Moore passes the AP Physics Exam
Belmont Senior Ameslee Moore passes the AP Physics Exam

According to the College Board, who develops and administers standardized tests and curricula used by K–12 and post-secondary education, only 18% of students who took the AP Physics I exam in 2024 passed the exam with a score of 4, with 3 being the passing score. The highest score attainable is 5.

AP Physics is notoriously known as one of the hardest AP exams on which to receive a passing score. In the state of Mississippi, only 26 students received such a high score. Passing the exam gave Ameslee college credit as well as high school credit for the course. Congratulations to Amelsee!

After much discussion, the TCSD School Board of Trustees approved changes to the student device/cell phone policy (Policy JE) at the July 18th public board meeting. These changes were made to eliminate the distractions of cell phone use, notifications, smart watches, etc. during the school day in order to provide the best educational setting for learning to occur.
