Coming out of Los Angeles, California, USA and born on the sixth of February 1993, Tinashe Jørgensen Kachingwe is a singer/songwriter, dancer and actress. Her music career began in 2007 with the formation of a girl group called The Stunners.
There are musicians and artists who can claim some experience in the world of show business, some from a relatively early age. Tinashe arguably trumps all of them, having been consistently modelling, acting and studying ballet, tap and jazz dance forms since the age of three.
She cut short her time at the Crescenta Valley High School in Los Angeles to focus on music full time. Vitamin C, the “Graduation (Friends Forever)” singer formed The Stunners when Tinashe was 14 and they were signed to Columbia six months later. The group released one E.P, toured with Justin Bieber and were going to record an album when they split in 2011.
The same year, Tinashe gave her first ever televised singing performance, in front of a live crowd of 57,000 at a baseball game and soon after that she signed with Universal records. If all this is sounding a little too Disney Princess for you, her first solo E.P, entitled “In Case We Die” cryptically enough, was recorded entirely herself in her home studio and saw comparisons to the likes of Frank Ocean and The Weeknd.
Since then her march to take over the world has taken her to the upper reaches of the Billboard charts, her single “2 On” peaked at number 24 on the Hot 100 and her debut album “Aquarius” went straight in at number 17 on the album charts.
The second single from that album, “Pretend” saw her working with A$AP Rocky and with that, it became clear that it’s only a matter of time before she becomes something of a legend. She is the perfect link between pop accessibility and the artist's touch of a true auteur. Join her for the ride and you will never forget it.
Read moreWatching a live show, it’s great when the artist is a great performer as well as musician, and that’s why watching Tinashe was one of my favourite performances I’ve seen. She’s a phenomenal dancer, and her opening dance break to her drummers solo was a perfect and exhilarating way to start the show. She got the audience dancing along with her and as soon as she was passed a microphone, she thanked everyone for being there and introduces her band and even her dancers.
She opened the set by performing 2 On, where she got everyone to sing along wit her, and also created a back and fourth rap dialogue, where she would shout ‘I say 2, you say On’, and the audience would respond to her song. It was awesome to be involved with the show like that right from the beginning, and the atmosphere and her dedication to the audience remained sky high throughout the show.
She played through what seemed like almost the entirety of her new studio album pre release, and said that we were the first audience to hear it live, which was incredible. It was one of those shows that I’m never going to forget, the combination of the new material, incredible dancing, and spot on vocals was something I’ve never experienced before.
I wish I could say this was a great concert, but it wasn't. Tinashe dropped in for two songs, singing along with cuts from her album. It was nice to see her, even in the small space on stage she showed she is a real dancer, but she needs to show us that she can sing live and play with musicians. She's got an amazing record out, getting enthusiastic press, but she's got to work on making it happen live. Her performance on Jimmy Kimmel showed that she can do a lot more than she did last night. I thought this gig in a tiny club would be a great way for her to rehearse her performance, but she didn't take advantage of the opportunity. Still, I think she's just starting out, and can still become a terrific live act if she works at it. The Shark Club itself was a LOT of fun, very nice rabbit hole to fall into.
I must admit I didn't know what to expect when I heard Tinashe was opening for Katy Perry here in Argentina. I had never heard anything of hers so I wasn't too pleased and thought she was gonna be average.
God, did she prove me wrong. Her set was perfect. She has it all: catchy tunes, great voice and amazing dancing skills. She put on quite a show and I became obsessed with her! Now I love her and most of her songs.
She's amazing live and I'm so glad I got to see her.
Tinashe is one of my favorite artists that I've been following since her 1st mixtape. She has the most satifying voice and overall delivery and it translates very well on stage. She's a great performer/dancer. I enjoyed every minute of her show and when I heard she was coming back to Chicago I bought tickets immediately. She was very interactive with the crowd as another reviewer mentioned.
The performance was incredible, the overall energy was just so uplifting and vibrant, you can really tell that the fans and the music mean a lot to her. Also, the choreography was amazing as well, the dancers never missed a beat and Tinashe herself both sang and danced. Probably one of the best concerts I have ever been to and will ever be to, she exceeded my expectations.
Tinashe is an AMAZING performer and a sweetheart in person. She interacts with the fans during the show, sometimes taking their phones and recording or making one of them sing! Try to see her before she blows up!!
The show was amazing!! Tinashe is an extraordinary performer and she blew my mind! She should come back in a bigger venue as I feel that she is bigger performer than the ones who perform just in clubs.
Tinashe I thought was going to be good but Iw as dead wrong. She pbrought 150% to that stage and every fan including me brought the same back to her. It was a show I will NEVER forget please go see her
It was amazing so worth it. I only played 25 pounds to see her up close . She is a born performer with flawless dance skills and an angelic singing voice. Thank you songkick
Completely flawless. Best show I've ever been to. There was even a couple that got engaged at my show. I wish I had paid more. She deserves ALL of my money. ALL OF IT.
