ABOUT ZONING
Orange County's zoning division is responsible for the interpretation and implementation of zoning regulations that
have been adopted in accordance with the county's comprehensive plan, (which designates the existing and future land
uses). Considerations of zoning regulations include prevailing land uses, growth characteristics, and the character
of the respective districts and suitability for particular uses.
Additionally, the zoning division supports the Board of Zoning Adjustment by
processing variances to the zoning code as well as special exceptions.
