When done by an experienced and trained laser surgeon, laser surgery is, on the whole, a safe procedure. However, there are risks to all procedures, including laser surgery. Scarring and textural changes can occur, and the likelihood varies depending on the specific laser surgery. Overall, the probability of this happening is low. Pigment change (too light or too dark) can occur after laser surgery. In many occasions this is related to sun exposure. Sun precautions need to be adhered to closely before and after laser surgery
Botox® and Dysport®
Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport® are prescription medications that can be very effective in minimizing the appearance of isolated wrinkles such as those on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and adjacent to the eyes (crow's feet). The medicine is administered through injection as a simple, nonsurgical way to minimize wrinkles by blocking the nerve impulses that cause muscles to contract. Although the effect is temporary, it can last three to six months and has the added benefit of reducing the development of future wrinkles by not allowing the repeating movement that contributes to wrinkles over time. Most people resume normal activity and/or can go back to work on the same day.

Filler substances
The aging process and other environmental factors like sunlight can cause your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth. Restylane®, Juvederm®, Radiesse® and Sculptra® are injectable dermal fillers that can restore youthful fullness to your face, lips and contours, or soften facial creases and wrinkles. Sagging skin can sometimes be an issue of volume loss that occurs with age, but with filler substances, we can replace that lost volume, providing immediate results. While these treatments aren't permanent, there are options that can last up to two years.
During your consultation, your provider will work with you to choose the treatment that will work the best for you. There are two different general subtypes of filler substances. One type is a liquid or gel substance such as hyaluronic acid. These gels fill in the space to restore fullness that is lost as we age. The results are immediate. The second subtype includes collagen replacers that help restore the underlying structure of the skin. This type usually requires a series of treatments and results develop over time, but can last up to two years.
Restylane® works immediately by adding volume to smooth away wrinkles. Its effects usually last six to nine months and can be used on any area of the face, including the lips.
JUVÉDERM® XC is a gel filler that instantly smoothes away wrinkles around any area of the face, including the lips. It usually lasts six – 9 months and can be used on any area of the face, including the lips. JUVÉDERM® XC is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment.
RADIESSE® is filler that can last up to one year. In addition to the initial results, it also causes collagen stimulation in the treated areas so that with subsequent treatments the filler may last longer. RADIESSE® is suitable for any area of the face, except for the lips.
Sculptra is most often used as a volumizer, as it provides a good solution for people who have lost volume in their cheeks. Sculptra relies almost exclusively on the body's collagen production to cause a more global revolumization of the facial structure and the results develop gradually over the first six months. It is a longer lasting filler, though, lasting anywhere from one to two years.
