After getting love from Tamil and Hindi audience, Thangalaan has reportedly set its OTT release date. Thangalaan starring Chiyaan Vikram has is going to release on OTT platform Netflix in a few days.
Tamil film Thangalaan, which was released on 15th August 2024 in Tamil has set its OTT release date amid much anticipation. The movie stars Chiyaan Vikram and it has been directed by Pa. Ranjith. The movie is based on actual events that centered on the life of mine employees in Karnataka's Kolar Gold Fields. As per reports, Thangalaan will release on Netflix on 20th September 2024.
Plot
A ferocious tribal leader, embroiled in a feud with an apparent sorceress, for helping a British general locate gold in their town, sets out to stop her in this British Raj era story in Thangalaan.
Cast and crew
Pa. Ranjith, who co-wrote the screenplay with Tamil Prabha and Azhagiya Periyavan, is the director of Thangalaan. K. E. Gnanavel Raja produces it under the banners of Studio Green and Neelam Productions. Alongside Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and Hari Krishnan, Vikram plays five characters in the movie.

Both reviewers and viewers offered the movie mixed reviews, praising the performances of the main performers. On September 6, Thangalaan was made available in Hindi for viewers in the northern belt.

The movie was released in Hindi after it got love from the Tamil audience. Taking to social media, people praised the plot and cast of the movie.
One wrote, “Watching late night show of #Thangalaan with family, what a great movie by brother @beemji. Must watch, now released in Hindi.”

Filming
Thangalaan was filmed at an actual location, according to News18. Pa. Ranjith, the director, made sure that the narrative was as authentic as possible to maintain the essence. Additionally, the director ensured that the crew remained in Kollar's isolated areas and that the movie was filmed in the actual KGF (Kolar Gold Fields). With the historical backdrop of the Kolar Gold Fields, the film tells a story set between the 1870s and 1940s and promises an intense period action experience.

In addition to his acting career, Vikram has credits as an assistant director and a playback vocalist from previous film projects. He is one of the actors in Tamil film with the most awards.
