The Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl is a competition in which teams of undergraduate students explore contemporary ethical problems and dilemmas. The cases debated are designed and written by members of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics and cover a wide range of controversial ethical issues.

The competition has a unique design that differs from the pro/con, black/white format typical of ordinary debates. It is intended to allow the students to use reason and critical thinking to propose and discuss with their peers alternative approaches to difficult ethical problems.

The Department of Philosophy at UCI Ethics Bowl met for the first time during the 2017-2018 academic year. The volunteer coaches are: Matt Madruga (madrugum@uci.edu), Alissa Nesslage (anesslag@uci.edu), Adrian R. Jacobs (adrianrk@uci.edu), and Veli Ayodoner (vaydoner@uci.edu). Team meetings are held weekly each quarter.
