Dr. Turnage thanks Rotarians for partnership with schools
Dr. Irene Walton Turnage, superintendent of the Holly Springs School District, was the guest speaker for the Holly Springs Rotary Club meeting July 31. She thanked the club for their outstanding support and urged Rotarians to continue to partner with the school district and “find ways to work with us.” Turnage said the district is working hard to have its students ready for college, the workforce or the military when they graduate high school. “Enroll, employ or enlist,” she said. Turnage also said business and industry are driving the state’s accountability model due to the many new job opportunities becoming available in Mississippi. She asked Rotary Club members to consider how they could help students in the district get internships, apprenticeships and other work experiences while they are still in school.
