Vermont consistently ranks as one of the healthiest states in the nation, yet many people in our state live with poor health. We are working to make the healthy choice the easy choice where Vermonters live, work, learn and play.
What is 3-4-50? 3 behaviors lead to 4 chronic diseases, resulting in more than 50% of deaths in Vermont. Tobacco use, physical inactivity and poor nutrition all contribute significantly to cancer, heart disease and stroke, diabetes, and lung diseases like asthma and COPD. Although many Vermonters believe that these chronic diseases are their fate and their future, simple changes to behavior and environment can lead to healthier and longer lives.
By quitting smoking, moving more, eating healthier, and taking care of your teeth, you can reduce your risk of chronic disease, disability and death.
