Geographic Information Systems and Analysis

The Harford County Department of Planning and Zoning operates an enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and creates and compiles geographic databases used within the department and by agencies and departments throughout the county government; they also are made available to outside agencies, educators and constituents.

The Department of Planning and Zoning provides free access to GIS data and prepared maps with the following web applications.


WebGIS Data Viewer

The WebGIS Data Viewer is an interactive mapping application that can be used to query, view, mark up and print maps to the user’s specifications. This web-based application requires no specialized GIS software to create custom maps.


Open Data Portal   

Harford County’s Open GIS Data Portal serves as a clearinghouse for a variety of GIS maps, databases, reports, and interactive mapping applications.


Data download  

The Department of Planning and Zoning provides an interactive application to “Clip and Ship” a wide variety of GIS databases in data formats suitable for use in mapping and CAD software programs.  Parcel boundaries, topography, orthophotography and many other geographic data sets are available at no cost.
