Sticking in New Orleans Harty signed his restricted free agent tender Thursday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayunereports.

Impact Harty is set to make $4 million in 2022 while playing on the tender. Originally an undrafted free agent, Harty has made his mark primarily on special teams, as he picked up 690 kick return yards and 199 punt return yards in 2021. He also tallied a career-high 36 receptions to go along with 570 receiving yards and three touchdowns last season, though he now has more competition for targets, with Michael Thomas (ankle) on track to return to the mix, as well as the addition of Chris Olave in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Gets second-round tender The Saints are giving Harris a second-round tender, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact This all but assures the restricted free agent will stay with the Saints, as no team would give up a second-round pick for the right to sign him. Harris did have a career year in 2021 as the Saints' No. 3 receiver and return specialist, catching 36 of 59 targets for 570 yards and three touchdowns. Listed at 5-foot-6, 170 pounds, Harris likely will be the team's third or fourth receiver in 2022.

Tallies three receptions Harris recorded three receptions on four targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 30-20 win over the Falcons.

Impact Harris finished second on the team in targets and receptions behind only Tre'Quan Smith. However, that translated into subpar production as the Saints took to the air only 24 times as opposed to 46 rushing attempts. Harris had an inconsistent season marred by a three-game suspension, time on the reserve/COVID-19 list and a hamstring injury. However, when on the field he emerged as a big-play threat by logging five receptions of 20 or more yards and four receptions that gained at least 40 yards. The Saints could overhaul their offensive personnel this offseason, meaning Harris' potential role in 2022 remains unclear.

Two catches in return Harris caught two of two targets for 23 yards during Sunday's 18-10 win over Carolina.

Impact Making his return from a three-game suspension, Harris finished third among Saints wide receivers in offensive snaps despite the absence of Tre'Quan Smith (chest). While Harris was still able to do just as much damage as Lil'Jordan Humphrey (two catches for 28 yards), both of these receivers watched as Marquez Callaway brought in six of 10 targets for 97 yards. However, it's possible that Harris' mid-week stint on the COVID list impacted his playing time. If so, Harris could be in store for a heightened workload in Week 18 against Atlanta, especially if Smith remains sidelined.

Impact Harris spent time on the COVID-19 list during the third and final week of his league-imposed suspension, but if he checks out fine from a conditioning standpoint, he could step into a big role this Sunday against Carolina.
