WORLD FOOD SECURITY WEEK 2009

In October three important events were held to prepare the groundwork for the WORLD SUMMIT ON FOOD SECURITY taking place 16-18 November at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

HOW TO FEED THE WORLD 2050 HIGH LEVEL EXPERT FORUM examined policy options that governments should consider adopting to ensure that the world population can be fed when it nears its peak of nearly 9.2 billion people in the middle of this century.

14, 15, 17 October 2009
THE COMMITTEE ON WORLD FOOD SECURITY (CFS) met to consider reforms to enable it to play a more effective role in the global governance of food security.

WORLD FOOD DAY focused attention on this year's theme of how to ensure food security in times of crisis.
