BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions

BBC Studios’ aim is to be the place where the best people come to do their best work. We invest in and value our staff to ensure we are a bold, agile, inventive and inclusive business. It is imperative to our success that we reflect the make-up of the society in which we live.

According to our latest staff survey four in five BBC Studios employees would recommend the BBC as a great place to work. We are actively working to build a diverse and inclusive culture that supports and encourages people to thrive, be their authentic selves and do their very best work and are identifying and nurturing talent inside and outside the organisation.

Our support ranges from dedicated training for all, initiatives to improve leadership, career coaching and the opportunity to manage their workload through to access to wellbeing advice. You can find out more about working for BBC Studios on our Careers site or take a look at some of our colleagues sharing more about themselves in a series of video interviews we’ve called This is Me.

Valuing difference

It matters to us that we reflect -- and are informed by - the audiences we serve, with stories that appeal to audiences around the world. To do this we must have a truly diverse and inclusive workforce with the very best talent right across our organisation.

We already lead the media industry in being transparent about the makeup of our work force and have been working actively to improve access for diverse talent in Productions. Since 2020, we have introduced a minimum threshold of 20% of teams on a production coming from an ethnically under-represented background, having a lived experience of a disability, or being from a low-income household.

We also initiated The Pledge, empowering senior leaders to take responsibility for behaviour on their sets and provide clarity and support to all team members – whether on or off-screen – and outline who is responsible for managing behavioural issues or concerns.
