Experts on the review of Annexes develop revised amendment proposals on Annex IV to the Basel Convention on disposal operations

During the second part of its sixth meeting held in Geneva on 3-6 September 2024, the expert working group on the review of Annexes developed revised amendment proposals on Annex IV for consideration and possible adoption by the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to be held 28 April-9 May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Participants gather during the regional workshop on enforcement of the plastic waste amendments under the Basel Convention

Focal Points, Competent Authorities, and Customs Administration from the French-speaking countries gathered in Dakar, Senegal on 9 and 10 July 2024 to discuss challenges and opportunities for the implementation of the Plastic Waste Amendments to the Basel Convention with a focus on enforcement. The need to improve the national legislation and strengthen the cooperation between the environmental entities and customs were particularly highlighted as main tools to prevent and combat illegal traffic in plastic wastes.

The meeting is being held in Geneva, Switzerland from 25 to 28 June 2024.
