HARRISON, William Pope, a House Chaplain; born in Savannah, Chatham County, Ga., September 3, 1830; D.D., Emory College, Atlanta, Ga., 1867; ordained in the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1850; minister; professor; magazine editor; appointed Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives to the Forty-fifth Congress; elected Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives to the Forty-sixth Congress (December 3, 1877–March 4, 1881); died February 7, 1895, in Columbus, Ga; interment in St. Paul United Methodist Church, Columbus, Ga.
