The matrix connector in the docker image is using an old version of the library that no longer works against newer versions of Synapse:
[12/04/24 08:44:36] WARNING Error validating response: 'next_batch' is a required property responses.py:190

At the same time, it does not work with recent python versions so running native above Ubuntu 22.04 is no longer possible
