Hey there 👋, Michael here! 🎶

Glad to see you here!

Currently, I'm in my final semester of my MSc in Data Science--though I've been off-and-on with AI and ML for roughly five years now. I received Bachelor's degrees in both Computer Science (with honors) and Mathematics from UNCW in 2018, with my undergraduate thesis in computer vision applied to microscopy images of neural tissue, and identifying specific cells and their density therein. I also have spent time working in educational data mining and adapting systems for CS1 student support, as well as developing end-to-end systems for genotype-phenotype analysis in the biological sciences.

I'm a *nix nerd through and through--my belief in, and passion for, FOSS is immense, and I'm currently working on bringing some of my AI/ML knowledge to bolster the budding data science communities in Rust in Haskell. Occasionally, I like to make games; though I'd by no means call myself a games programmer, rather more of programmatic game mechanics explorer trying out new ideas.
