A man was shot and killed during work at the City of Industry.

INDUSTRY, Calif. - A man was shot and killed at his workplace in the City of Industry and investigators are questioning a former employee as a person of interest.

Sheriff's deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department descended on a large commercial complex Monday morning in the 18600 block of Gale Avenue after receiving calls of a shooting in progress at a logistics shipping company.

The man, identified as Edward Shi, was pronounced dead at the scene. He suffered apparent gunshot wounds to his upper torso, authorities said.

A person of interest, someone who used to work at the business, was taken into custody.

"We know that the person of interest is a former employee of the business and the victim is a current employee of the business, said Lt. Mike Modica.

The entire building was evacuated. No one else was injured.

A motive for the shooting is unknown.
