Maker '06 - Squid Labs!
Squid Labs's booth was being run by Eric Wilhelm, and I think his wife, who I think was named Kristy, or Chrissy, or something similar. No? Correct me!
Squid Labs formed Instructables, a site for do-it-yourselfers to post how they've done things, in step-by-step pictures with notes. I recently used the site to how-to my magnetic acrylic Rubik's Cube.
I asked them if they were the Instructables folks, and they seemed happy someone knew about it, and didn't just want their phone laser etched (they were doing that free based on your own designs), and he asked if I'd posted anything. When I told him I was the magnetic Rubik's guy, they both got really excited, and they gave me a free tshirt from the table there in the foreground. He told me there were occasional workshops and open-houses, and if I was in the area, I should stop in. I totally want to do that, especially after watching MAKE's podcast of a tour of their labs.
They're looking forward to my next post, so now I have extra incentive to create another thing. Thanks, Squid Labs!
